COLORADO SPRINGS - Westminster women's soccer's
Alexa Maple, a senior from Farmington, Utah, was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday as announced by the league office.
One of the Griffins' best offensive threats, Maple is finding her form at the right time with three goals and one assist in Westminster women's soccer's 2-0 weekend at home last week.
Maple's team-leading fourth assist of the season came off of a perfectly placed corner scored directly off of a corner attempt to give Westminster a one-goal lead in the seventh minute of its 3-0 win over CCU on Sunday. She later placed a near-post corner directly into the Cougars net for her second goal of the match and team-leading fifth goal of the season.Â
Against Black Hills State on Friday, Maple found the net from outside the 18-yard-box. One of several long-range efforts to find the net for Maple this season, her goal on Friday was also the first of that match to put Westminster ahead, 1-0.
She currently ranks second in the RMAC with 3.86 shots per game, third with 1.79 shots on goal per game, and eighth with four assists.
Following its 3-0 win over Colorado Christian on Sunday, Westminster women's soccer (7-2-4, 4-2-3 RMAC) sits alone in sixth place in the RMAC Women's Soccer Standings as the Griffins prepare for their final three matches of conference play.
Westminster will travel to Adams State and N.M. Highlands next Friday and Sunday, respectively, before returning home for their regular-season finale on Wed., Nov. 3.
