Salt Lake City – Student-athletes from Westminster's 12 NCAA athletic programs continued their stellar performance in the classroom as 2019 drew to a close. For the tenth semester in a row, the department completed the semester with above a 3.3 GPA, as 249 student-athletes accomplished a 3.398 overall GPA for the fall 2019 semester.
"We're very pleased to share the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes from this fall semester," Westminster Director of Athletics
Shay Wyatt said. "These achievements demonstrate our student-athletes' ability to manage demanding schedules and maintain academics as a top priority. Congratulations to our student-athletes for maintaining our departments tradition in meeting the academic standards set forth by our institution."
A total of 146 student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher, accounting for 59% of the student-athlete population, including 47 who accomplished a perfect 4.0.
Preston McIlece (men's soccer), and Emma Heyn (women's soccer), were both named by the RMAC as First Team All-Academic for their respective sports. In addition, McIlece was also chosen as a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American. Griffin student-athletes in the following sports were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll; men's cross country (7), women's cross country (6), men's soccer (12), women's soccer (14) and volleyball (11).
