Salt Lake City, Utah — Westminster University Athletics is proud to recognize the academic excellence of its fall student-athletes, as 280 Griffins combined to earn a cumulative GPA of 3.52 during the fall semester.
"We can see the hard work of our student athletes on the field or the court in every contest," remarked Shelley Jarrard, Interim Athletics Director, "what we do not see is the hard work they are putting into their schoolwork every day. I am proud to know that our student athletes are also fully engaged in their classwork by receiving over a 3.5 GPA. Their extraordinary commitment to balancing demanding athletic schedules has been complemented by the unwavering support of our professors. Very proud of the Griffins."
A total of 134 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher, including 53 who finished the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA. At the team level, 10 of Westminster's 15 teams recorded a team GPA above 3.5, marking an increase of one team from last year.
"We are extremely proud of our student athletes. Balancing academics with a demanding training and travel schedule, on top of general college-life pressure, is incredibly difficult. But this outcome speaks to the quality and dedication of the student athletes at Westminster University!"
Westminster student-athletes continue to exemplify the university's mission by excelling in the classroom while representing the Griffins with distinction in competition.
