Women's Soccer Prepares for Colorado Road Trip
The Westminster women's soccer team returns to Colorado this weekend for a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games. The Griffins open the trip on Friday at No. 7 Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. They will then visit Colorado Christian on Sunday in Lakewood, Colo.
 
Both of the games will be broadcast live on the RMAC Network with the home team producing the content. Live stats will also be available during the action. Links for all live features are available at WestminsterGriffins.com/live.
 
About the Griffins
Westminster starts the week as the only RMAC unbeaten in league play. They are third in the conference with 11 points and are tied with Colorado Mines in winning percentage. The Griffins are 6-1-2 overall this season and 3-0-2 in RMAC games. They have gone 1-0-1 in road games and have a five-game unbeaten streak.
 
The Griffins rank second in the RMAC by scoring 1.78 goals per game and they lead the conference in shots (17.44) and shots on goal (8.67). The team has recorded nine assists on their 16 goals and has attempted 50 corner kicks.
 
Madison Roemer has scored seven goals to lead the team and the conference. Roemer also leads the conference with 16 points. She has taken 36 shots and put 18 on goal. Heidi Lorschider has scored four goals and is second on the team in that category. Tiana Cerciello has attempted 32 shots with 20 on goal.
 
Westminster begins the week second in the RMAC with its 0.41 goals-against-average. The keepers have combined to make 23 saves with a .852 save percentage and six shutouts.
 
Breanna Empey has started and earned the decision in all nine games of the season. Empey has a 0.42 GAA and .846 save percentage. Hillary Weixler has made one appearance without allowing a goal or making a save.
 
Historic Season for Women's Soccer
• The 2016 season is the 10th season of competition for the Westminster women's soccer program. The Griffins have gone 102-67-15 (.595) all-time and they have recorded six straight seasons with at least 10 wins. The Griffins recorded the 100th win in program history at Colorado Mesa on September 18.
 
Defense Rules
• The Griffins have allowed one goal or less in eight of the nine games this season with six shutouts. They are second in the RMAC and tied for 10th in the NCAA with a .667 shutout percentage. The team has allowed two goals or more just twice in the past 14 games dating back to last season.
 
One Goal Only
• Westminster hasn't allowed an opponent to score multiple goals in a game at Dumke Field since October 20, 2013. During that 22-game span the team is 16-3-3 with 12 shutouts. They have outscored the opposition 44-10 in those games and they have allowed just three total goals in the past 10 home games.
 
Tricky
Madison Roemer tallied her first career hat trick – the fifth in school history – against UCCS on September 25. The senior added an assist in the win to set a school record with seven points. Roemer has scored seven goals this season and leads the conference in goals and points. Her five game-winning goals are tied for the most of any player in the country. Roemer also leads the RMAC by taking 4.0 shots per game.
 
Up the Charts
• With those seven goals this season, Roemer has moved into a tied for fifth in team history with 16 career goals. She also ranks sixth with 39 career points and second with nine game-winning goals. Roemer can also be found in the Westminster top-10 in shots (93) and shots on goal (48).
 
Second Option
Heidi Lorschider is tied for fifth in the RMAC by averaging 0.44 goals per game having scored four goals this season. The senior has scored a goal in three straight games which ranks tied for the fifth-longest streak in team history. Lorschider was named the RMAC offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring two goals and adding an assist last week.
 
Constant Presence
• Senior Maddie Lewis has started all nine games at defense for the Griffins this season and she leads the team with 869 minutes played. Lewis has now played in 61 consecutive games and made 59 straight starts, fourth-longest streak in team history. Lewis ranks eighth in team history with 5,484 minutes played.
 
Brick Wall
Breanna Empey has started all nine games in goal for the Griffins and ranks second in the RMAC with her 0.42 GAA. She has made 22 saves and ranks seventh in the conference with her .846 save percentage. Empey has compiled a 6-1-2 record and her five shutouts already rank tied for sixth in a single season in team history.

• Colorado Mines leads the all-time series 1-0
• The Orediggers defeated the Griffins 1-0 last season at Dumke Field.
• They are currently ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Coaches' Poll and are 9-1 overall this season.
