SALT LAKE CITY – The 24th-ranked Westminster College women's soccer team advanced to the championship game of the Cal Pac/Frontier Conference Tournament with a 2-1 overtime win over Holy Names on Friday afternoon at Dumke Field.

The third-seeded Griffins (12-6-1) needed an extra eight minutes to advance to the title.  Junior Margo Hickman scored the winner on a shot from 20 yards out that curled just inside the far post and sent the Westminster bench storming onto the field in celebration.  It was the 11th goal of the season for Hickman and her school-record fifth game winner.  Lorin Wathen played the ball across to Hickman for the winning shot.

After the game was played scoreless through the first 71 minutes, it appeared that Westminster would advance in regulation when Justin Jones scored in the 72nd minute to put her team in front 1-0.  Jones blasted a shot from 25 yards away that found its way below the cross bar for her fourth goal of the year.  Alyssa Hill found Jones on the run and recorded her third assist on the play.

The lead was short lived however, as Holy Names (9-10-1) would tally the equalizer just five minutes later.  Hayley Hill would play the ball through to a streaking Rebecca Hernandez who collected the pass at the edge of the penalty area.  Hernandez would then take a few dribbles and slide a shot inside the far post with just over 13 minutes remaining.

Westminster finished the game with a 13-8 advantage in shots and managed eight of their shots on frame.  Jones had an opportunity early in the second half when she headed a cross that was deflected away by the NHU keeper.  Westminster keeper Dayna Winter-Nolte picked up two saves while earning her 12th win of the season.

The Griffins set a school record for wins in a season by winning this game, surpassing the previous record of 11 set last year.  Westminster will now face the top-seed Carroll in the championship game on Saturday.  The third meeting of the season between the two teams is slated for 2 p.m. on Dumke Field.
