SALT LAKE CITY, UT. – Westminster men's lacrosse earned a sweep of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference weekly honors after senior attacker Luke Sillstrop and sophomore defender Ben Weber were recognized following a 2–0 opening weekend.
Luke Sillstrop, Westminster (Senior, Attacker, Encinitas, California)
Sillstrop opened the season with back-to-back four-goal outings to help Westminster score impressive league wins against Dominican and Concordia University Irvine. In the Griffins season-opening 21-6 victory against Dominican, he scored four goals on seven shots on goal, including the game's first goal. Two days later, he opened the scoring again and finished with four goals and two assists in a 22-10 victory against Concordia. His eight goals were tied for fifth-most, and his 10 points were the eighth-most in Division II over the weekend.
Defensive
Ben Weber, Westminster (Sophomore, Defender, Littleton, Colorado)
Weber anchored a Westminster defense that allowed just 16 goals en route to two RMAC wins last weekend. In Thursday's season-opening 21-6 win against Dominican, he finished with three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two assists, powering a defense that forced 28 turnovers. Saturday's 22-10 victory against Concordia Irvine saw Weber lead a steady Griffins defense that forced 21 turnovers and went 17-of-17 on clears.
