Salt Lake City, UT –The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) has announced the recipients of the 2024–25 Brechler Awards, and Westminster University proudly saw two teams honored for academic excellence. The Men's Lacrosse and Women's Soccer programs were recognized for having the highest team GPAs in their respective sports among RMAC institutions.

This marks the ninth consecutive Brechler Award for Westminster Men's Lacrosse, continuing their streak of excellence in the classroom every year since the award's inception for the sport. For Westminster Women's Soccer, this year's award represents a first in program history—a milestone achievement for the team.

From the official RMAC release:
"Established in 2012–13, the Brechler Awards recognize the conference's top team grade point average (GPA) in each of its 22 sports. Grades from the 2024–25 academic year were used in the calculations, which included all student-athletes listed on the team's NCAA eligibility list."

Team GPAs were calculated using total quality points divided by total credit hours and were submitted by each institution's compliance administrator.

The award is named in honor of Paul W. Brechler, former RMAC Commissioner (1976–1990), the athletic director at the University of Iowa, and Commissioner of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Brechler and his wife Wanda were the first inductees into the RMAC Hall of Fame.


All 2024–25 Brechler Award winners will be recognized at the 2025 RMAC Hall of Fame & Awards Banquet.
