Westminster Men’s Lacrosse Tops Concordia Irvine on the Road


IRVINE, Calif. – Westminster men's lacrosse remained unbeaten to open the 2026 season Saturday afternoon, earning a 22–10 road victory over Concordia Irvine at Golden Eagles Field.

The Griffins used a strong finish to the first quarter and a dominant second quarter to take control early, then pulled away late with a nine-goal fourth quarter to secure the conference win.


Game Breakdown

First Half

Westminster opened the scoring midway through the first quarter before Concordia Irvine briefly surged ahead with three goals in a four-second span. The Griffins responded emphatically in the final 18 seconds of the period, as Daxton Jensen and Ridge Crouch scored back-to-back goals to give Westminster a 4–3 lead after one.

The Griffins controlled the second quarter, outscoring CUI 5–1 behind three goals from Harrison Edwards, along with tallies from Crouch and Taigen Hagen, extending the lead to 9–4 at halftime.

Second Half

Westminster continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, scoring four goals while Concordia Irvine found the net five times. Despite the run, the Griffins answered consistently to maintain a 13–9 advantage entering the fourth.

In the final period, Westminster pulled away decisively, scoring nine goals while holding CUI to just one. The Griffins closed the game with a 9–1 fourth-quarter advantage to put the contest out of reach.


Individual Performances

Harrison Edwards led all scorers with six goals, while Luke Sillstrop added four goals and two assists. Daxton Jensen, Ridge Crouch, and Pierce Dahl each finished with two goals.

Westminster also received goals from Cale Gunter, Taigen Hagen, Cam Conti, Rhett Rice, George Phelps, and Boden Laforce, with 11 different Griffins finding the back of the net.

In goal, Christian Jones played all 60 minutes and recorded 15 saves, while also contributing one assist. Liam Sweeney led the team with three assists.


Team Numbers

Westminster finished with a 54–37 advantage in shots and placed 37 shots on goal. The Griffins were perfect on clears, going 17-for-17, and CUI committed 21 turnovers.

Westminster finished 0-for-7 on extra-man opportunities, while holding Concordia Irvine to 0-for-5 on man-up chances. The Griffins recorded 35 ground balls and committed 19 turnovers.

Saturday's win moves Westminster to 2–0 on the season, capping a successful opening road trip as the Griffins continue early-season conference play.
