Griffins’ Gragnola and Mavericks’ Shields Earn PBC/Rocky Mountain Division Weekly Men’s Lacrosse Honors

Gragnola scores six goals in a win against Dominican University; Shields stops 13 shots on goal in key win against Concordia University Irvine

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Westminster University senior midfielder Sean Gragnola and Colorado Mesa University sophomore goalkeeper Shaden Shields won the seventh edition of the Peach Belt Conference-Rocky Mountain Division Men's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week awards, announced on Monday.

Offensive Player of the Week
Sean Gragnola, Westminster (Senior, Midfielder, Portland, Oregon)
Gragnola was picture-perfect in the Griffin's 22-4 divisional victory against Dominican University last week, scoring a game-high six goals on six attempts. It was a career-high tying goal total for the senior, matching a six-goal effort from last season at Florida Tech.

Defensive Player of the Week
Shaden Shields, Colorado Mesa (Sophomore, Goalkeeper, Naples, Florida)
Shields claims his third PBC/Rocky Mountain Division defensive award this season after backstopping the Mavericks to a key 8-7 divisional victory against Concordia University Irvine. He recorded 13 saves on 20 shots on goal and 40 total shots faced in the victory. Shields also nabbed three groundballs while recording a .650 save percentage against the Golden Eagles.
