Westminster improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in RMAC play Saturday, cruising past Northwest Nazarene 24-8 at NNU. The Griffins dominated from start to finish, putting up their highest scoring output of the season behind a bigtime performance from Luke Sillstrop.
Game Breakdown
First Quarter
Westminster set the tone early, scoring five of the first six goals of the game. Luke Sillstrop opened the scoring on a man-up opportunity at 13:29, assisted by Ashton Karch, before Northwest Nazarene's c aimus answered at 11:30 to tie it at 1-1. The Griffins responded with four straight — Theo Le at 10:14 assisted by Taigen Hagen, Sillstrop again at 9:14 assisted by Duke DeVault, Cam Conti unassisted at 6:21, and DeVault at 0:00 assisted by Jake Bloom — to send Westminster into the second quarter leading 5-1.
Second Quarter
Westminster exploded for nine goals in the second quarter to take a commanding 14-3 lead at halftime. Camden Stanley opened the period with back-to-back goals, the second on a man-up opportunity assisted by Boden Laforce, before Northwest Nazarene's o hawk converted on a man-up at 10:37. The Griffins then rattled off seven straight — Pierce Dahl, Sillstrop, DeVault twice, Daxton Jensen, and Sillstrop twice more — to push the advantage to 14-3 at the half.
Third Quarter
Westminster continued to pour it on in the third, outscoring NNU 7-3. The Griffins received goals from Cam Conti, Tate Craig, Sillstrop, Charlie Phelps, Conti again, Kaydin Berry, and Cale Gunter. Northwest Nazarene got tallies from o hawk, c aimus, and k young to close the quarter at 21-6.
Fourth Quarter
Westminster added three more in the fourth from Kaydin Berry, Owen Estee, and Daxton Jensen, while Northwest Nazarene scored twice to set the final at 24-8.
Griffin Performances
Luke Sillstrop had a monster performance, finishing with 6 goals, 1 assist, and 7 points on 9 shots.
Duke DeVault contributed 3 goals, 2 assists, and 5 points on 6 shots, while Cam Conti added 3 goals and 3 points on 3 shots.
Kaydin Berry recorded 2 goals, 1 assist, and 3 points on 3 shots, and Daxton Jensen added 2 goals, 1 assist, and 3 points on 3 shots. Camden Stanley chipped in 2 goals and 2 points on 2 shots.
