SNOWBIRD, Utah—
Francesco Gori finished third, in race number two, for his first podium finish in the slalom. The Griffins men's ski team finished second with had five top-10 finishers over two slalom races.
Westminster's men's and women's ski team finished second with combined score of 300.5 points. The men finished second with 173 points through two races and the women finished fifth with 123.5. The University of Utah finished first in both the men's and women's slalom accumulating a first place tally of 350 points. The University of Colorado came in third with a combined score of 283.
First Race – 87 Points, Second
Westminster was one of just three teams that had all their skiers finish the morning race. Six out of the seven skiers finished in the top-20. The University of Colorado had the second most skiers in the top-20 with four and the University of Utah also had three in the top-10.
The team finished second and scored 87 three skiers finishing in the the top-10. Gori finished fourth,
Mikkel Solbakken finished fifth and Gustav Dalmalm finished 10
th.
Martin Arene finished 15
th,
Joachim Mjelde finished 18
th,
Francesco Galdiolo finished 19
th and Alexandre Coltier finished 21
st.
Gori and Solbakken weren't far off from stepping on the podium with less than half a second separating them from second and third. Gori posted the third fastest time (44.81) of the first run and Solbakken posted the fifth fastest time (45.36). Less than half a second separated them from second and third place.
Joachim Mjelde had the third fastest time of the second run.
Second Race – 163 Points, Fourth
The Griffins finished second race with 86 points with four top-20 and two top-10 finishers. Gori moved up three spots from the first run to finish third and notched his second podium finish of the season.
Galdiolo posted the third fastest run of the second run (45.66) and jumped 15 places to finish 10
th in the second race. Coltier improved nine spots to finish 15
th, Gustav finished 17
th and Solbakken finished 37
th.
The Griffins will be back on the slopes for the Giant Slalom at the RMISA Invite at the Park City Ski Resort, hosted by the University of Utah, on Thursday and Friday.
