Westminster Alpine Ski Competes at Nevada Invitational

The Westminster alpine ski teams continued the 2026 season at the Nevada Invitational, held in conjunction with the U.S. National Cross Country Ski Championships at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. Westminster competed in slalom and giant slalom events from Feb. 1–3, earning points on both the men's and women's sides in a deep RMISA field.


Meet Breakdown

Men's Slalom

Westminster recorded 63 team points in the men's slalom on January 31. Alejandro Puente Tasias led the Griffins with a third-place finish (1:39.10), earning 34 points. Roman Frost followed with a 15th-place result (1:42.43) for 16 points, while Benjamin Angerer added 13 points with an 18th-place finish (1:43.38). Westminster finished fourth as a team in the event.

Women's Slalom

The Westminster women totaled 31 team points in slalom competition. Sarah Zoller paced the team with a 15th-place finish (1:47.41), scoring 16 points, while Marie Lalire followed closely with a 16th-place result (1:47.46) and 15 points. Westminster placed eighth in the women's slalom team standings.

Men's Giant Slalom

In giant slalom on February 3, Westminster earned 31 team points, finishing eighth in the event. Trent Pennington led the way with a 13th-place finish (1:58.81), earning 19 points. Westminster added points from additional finishers to contribute to the team total.

Women's Giant Slalom

The Westminster women recorded 47 team points in giant slalom at Mt. Rose. Guro Hestad Vognild posted a fourth-place finish (2:00.87) to score 31 points, while Sarah Zoller added 16 points with a 15th-place result (2:02.38). Westminster finished sixth in the women's giant slalom standings.


Big Picture

Across all alpine events at the Nevada Invitational, Westminster totaled 160 team points, finishing seventh overall in the team standings. The women accounted for 78 points, while the men contributed 82 points, continuing steady progress through the RMISA schedule.
