Griffins Travel to Western and Fort Lewis for Midseason Road Trip

Westminster will take on Western Colorado on Friday night and Fort Lewis on Sunday afternoon.

SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster women's soccer (RV) (4-2-3, 1-2-2 RMAC) gets set to reach the midway point of the conference season as it travels into the heart of the Rockies with road matches at Western Colorado (4-5-1, 1-3-1 RMAC) on Friday night at 7 p.m., and Fort Lewis (3-5-1, 1-3-1 RMAC) on Sunday at 12 p.m.

About the Griffins:
-  Westminster, which received votes in the latest USCA Division II National Coaches' Poll after being ranked as high as No. 13 earlier this season, will make its second conference road trip of the weekend this year as it still searches for its first RMAC win away from Dumke Field.
- The Griffins sit at No. 8 in this week's USCA South Central Region Rankings and are coming off of an overtime draw vs. Colorado School of Mines (RV).  Westminster suffered its first home loss of the season last Friday vs. Regis.
- Aimee Kurfurst continues to lead the Griffins in scoring with four goals on the season including Westminster's lone goal on Sunday against Colorado School of Mines.
- Rebecca Wheeler leads the team with four assists from her winger position and Alexa Maple is second with a pair of assists from her central midfield role.
- Goalkeeper Kelsea Cracroft had a season-high eight saves vs. Colorado School of Mines and owns a 4-2-2 record in net with a pair of clean sheets and a .74 goals against average.  She has made 24 saves on the season while allowing just six goals in nine matches.
- Westminster is second in the conference with a .744 goals against average and sit in the middle of the table with five points through its first six matches.  The Griffins, who are eighth in the conference standings, posted a win over MSU Denver and held late leads in regulation against both first-place CSU Pueblo and second-place UCCS.

About the Mountaineers: 
- Westminter has won the past two matchups agaisnt Western Colorado including a 4-0 win in Grand Junction, Colo., in the last meeting back in 2019.
- Western Colorado (4-5-1, 1-3-1 RMAC) is coming off of an 0-1-1 weekend after a loss last Friday to New Mexico Highlands University and a tie Sunday vs. Colorado Christian University.
Caileen Sienknecht leads the team with three goals scored while Casey Ober and Laura Pelino each head into the week with two goals apiece.
- Western Colorado women's soccer is in its first season playing on the Katy O. Rady Field, the highest collegiate soccer field in the world at 7,723 feet.
- Kaeyla Noble is third in the RMAC with an .809 save percentage but has surrendered 17 goals so far this season.
- Western went 3-2 through non-conference play but have since gone 1-3-1 to begin the RMAC season.

About the Sky Hawks:
- Fort Lewis also heads into the weekend after a draw and a loss last weekend.  The Sky Hawks lost to Colorado Christian, 3-0, before a scoreless draw vs. Adams State on Sunday.
- Madyson Barela leads the team with four goals scored and Katie Smith is second with three goals on the season.
- Freshman midfielder, Danielle Gonzales, is one of just four players to start all nine matches and she currently leads all field players with 812 minutes on the pitch this season.  She has added one goal and one assist from her midfield position.
- The Sky Hawks defeated N.M. Highlands, 4-1, in their lone conference win of the season back on Oct. 1 but have been outscored 9-2 in their four other conference matches thus far.
- Westminster is 5-1-1 all-time against Fort Lewis and have not lost since the very first matchup back in 2015.  Westminster won, 1-0, on the road the last time the two played in Durango back in April.
