ASPEN, Colo.—Westminster's men's ski team finished second in the giant Slalom at the University of Denver Invitational. Combined with the women's score from yesterday, the team finished first overall with 359 points, 52 points ahead of the University of Utah in second.
The men finished first in giant slalom #1 with 86 points and nearly had four top-10 finishes.
Mikkel Solbakken finished third,
Joachim Mjelde finished fourth, Francesco Gori finished 10
th and
Martin Arene finished 11
th.
Mjelde finished with the fastest time of giant slalom #1 with a time of 1:02.09 in the first run. Solbakken recorded a first run time of 1:02.44 for the fourth fastest time and Gori had the eight fastest time, third fastest in the second run, of 1:03.28.
Gustav Dalmalm and
Alex Coltier rounded out the team finishing 18
th and 19
th respectively.
The team tied third in giant slalom #2 with 73 points. Solbakken finished second, Arene 11
th and Dalmalm 20
th. Mjelde and Gori did not finish the first run.
Solbakken had the second fastest and ninth fastest runs of giant slalom #2. He was second in the first run with a time of 1:00.77 and fourth in the second run with a time of 1:03.25.
The teams will race in the slalom at the Colorado Invitational at Eldora Resort in the Nederland, Colo., Tuesday and Wednesday Jan. 12 and 13.
