ASPEN, Colo.—The Westminster alpine ski teams finished third in alpine events at the Denver Invitational. The men finished second in points overall (157), with five top 10 finishes, and the women finished fourth (131), with two top 10 finishes.
Giant Slalom
The Griffins finished third in points (72) with Freshman
Mikkel Solbakken and
Alexandre Coltier leading the team in their debut weekend. Solbakken finished fifth (2:08.56) and Coltier was just a few spots back in eighth (2:09.93). Solbakken finished his first run in 58.08 for the second fastest time. Senior

th and freshman
Joachim Mjelde finished 14
th.
Freshman
Julia Toiviainen made her debut finishing seventh (2:05.79) and leading the Griffins to fourth with 62 points. Freshman Henriette Resen finished 12

Juliette Gauthier finished 17

Anika Angriman finished 24
th.
Slalom
Both teams improved in the slalom. The men finished first with 85 points, tied with University of Utah, and the women finished third with 69 points.
The Griffins matched the University of Denver with three top 10 finishers. Wahl finished third (1:34.82) for his first career podium finish. Solbakken finished fifth (1:35.02), freshman
Joachim Mjelde finished ninth (1:35.44) and senior
Raffael Breu finished 13
th.
It's a short turn around for the Griffins next race. Westminster will be back on the hill for the University of Colorado Invitational Jan. 15-17.
