Griffins Earn 162 Points at Utah Invitational Alpine Events

Event Breakdown

Giant Slalom — February 22, 2026 | Utah Olympic Park, Park City, Utah

Westminster opened the two-day alpine portion of the Utah Invitational with competition in both the Women's and Men's Giant Slalom at Utah Olympic Park.

In the Women's Giant Slalom, Guro Hestad Vognild led the way for Westminster, finishing 9th overall with a combined time of 2:01.67 (Run 1: 59.10, Run 2: 1:02.57). Sarah Zoller added to the effort with a 21st-place finish, posting a combined time of 2:03.24 (Run 1: 59.93, Run 2: 1:03.31). Westminster earned 35 points in the Women's GS, placing 6th among eight teams.

In the Men's Giant Slalom, Trent Pennington delivered a strong performance, finishing 22nd overall with a combined time of 2:00.65 (Run 1: 59.91, Run 2: 1:00.74). Benjamin Angerer crossed 24th in a time of 2:00.79 (Run 1: 1:00.76, Run 2: 1:00.03). Westminster posted 27 points in the Men's GS, placing 8th. Combined, Westminster totaled 62 points on Giant Slalom day.


Slalom — February 24, 2026 | Utah Olympic Park, Park City, Utah

Westminster closed out the alpine week with strong showings in both slalom races.

In the Women's Slalom, Guro Hestad Vognild again paced the Griffins, finishing 14th overall with a combined time of 1:33.68 (Run 1: 49.71, Run 2: 43.97). Sarah Zoller crossed in 21st at 1:35.52 (Run 1: 52.17, Run 2: 43.35). Westminster earned 33 points in the Women's Slalom, placing 7th.

The Men's Slalom proved to be Westminster's best event of the weekend. Alejandro Puente Tasias had a standout day, finishing 2nd overall with a combined time of 1:31.80 (Run 1: 44.20, Run 2: 47.60), earning 37 points individually. Benjamin Angerer added an 13th-place finish at 1:33.52 (Run 1: 46.66, Run 2: 46.86), earning 18 points. Roman Frost rounded out Westminster's scorers, finishing 21st in a time of 1:34.08 (Run 1: 46.42, Run 2: 47.66). Westminster earned 67 points in the Men's Slalom — their best single-event total of the meet — placing 2nd behind Colorado.

Final Alpine Standings

Westminster finished with 162 total alpine points, placing 6th in the final alpine standings among eight programs. The Griffins' Women's Alpine total of 68 points placed 7th, while the Men's Alpine total of 94 points placed 6th. Colorado led all teams with 371 alpine points, followed by Utah (271), Montana State (270), and Denver (261).

Westminster's overall finish at the Utah Invitational — which included the full nordic and alpine program — was 8th place with 162 total points, 578 back of tournament champion Colorado (740).
