PARK CITY, Utah – The Westminster alpine ski team opened the 2016 RMISA season by placing fourth in alpine events at the Utah Invitational held at Park City Mountain Resort on Monday through Wednesday. The teams combined to score 258 points in the four races.

The Griffins results was anchored by the men winning the slalom race held on Monday. It was the men's team first event win since joining the conference in 2010. They scored 90 points in the race after
Giulio Bosca and
Tim Lindgren placed third and fourth respectively. Westminster rounded out scoring in the race with
Jonas Nyberg placing seventh.

The Westminster men then finished fourth in the giant slalom on Wednesday with 77 points. That gave them enough to finish second in the men's overall rankings for alpine events. Bosca finished fourth in the giant slalom and
David Herzog was sixth. Bosca would finish third in the men's individual rankings with 65 total points.

Westminster's women placed fifth in the slalom and seventh in the giant slalom. They were sixth in the women's alpine overall rankings with 91 points.
Marie Aufrere finished third in Wednesday's giant slalom race to lead the Griffins.

Sofija Novoselic led the way for Westminster in the slalom race by placing 11th. She was followed by
Ann-Kathrin Breuning in 12th
Tonje Sekse in 13th.

Denver currently won the alpine title with 320 total points with Colorado closely behind with 318 points. The meet concludes with Nordic events on Sunday and Monday. Westminster doesn't field Nordic teams.
