Box Score SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The No. 12 Westminster men's lacrosse team lost for the second straight touting when they fell in a defensive battle at No. 5 Cal Poly, 8-5, on Monday evening.

Westminster (2-2) wasn't able to get on the scoreboard until there was 9:27 to play in the game. By that time, Cal Poly (6-1) had opened up a 7-0 lead. Tomas Sarjeant opened the scoring for the Griffins with his sixth goal of the season. After the Mustangs pushed the lead to 8-1, Westminster closed with the final four goals – including two from
Kyle Postler – to cut the final deficit to three.

Michael Paul and Anthony Varni scored two goals apiece for Cal Poly and Varni added an assist for a team-high three points.
