Griffins Take Down Fort Lewis, 24-2

Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – The second-ranked Westminster College men's lacrosse team defeated Fort Lewis (Colo.) 24-2 on Saturday in Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference action at Dumke Field.

Westminster moves to 8-4 overall this season and 2-0 in RMLC action with the victory. The loss drops Fort Lewis to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the league.

The Griffins controlled the action from the start, scoring the first 10 goals of the contest. They led 14-1 at halftime and then after a 3-1 third quarter, Westminster finished with a 7-0 fourth quarter. The Griffins had a 58-13 edge in shots taken with 34 of those attempts on cage. They finished with a 37-27 edge in ground balls while winning 17-of-29 faceoffs.

Adam Marfice paced the Griffins with seven goals and two assists for a total of nine points. Marfice led the attack with 11 shots – eight on target – and he also picked up one ground ball. Kyle Postler recorded four goals and four assists for eight points with Collin Madsen adding four goals and three assists. Ben Tourek made six stops in cage to earn his first career win.

Westminster will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Saint Mary's (Calif.) at 4 p.m. on Dumke Field.
