SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College women's soccer team travels to Billings, Mont. this weekend for the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament. Westminster is the tournament No. 3 seed and they will face sixth-seeded Presentation (S.D.) in a quarterfinal game on Thursday at 11 a.m. MST at Wendy's Field.
Westminster enters the tournament at 8-7-2 overall on the season and they went 3-1-2 in Frontier Conference play. The Griffins are 2-1-2 in their last five games and they posted a 1-4-2 record away from Dumke Field this season.
As a team, the Griffins are averaging 1.59 goals per game and taking 13.9 shots per game. They have scored 14 goals during the first half with another 13 coming after intermission.
Nicole Carter leads the team with seven goals and 15 points.
Jessica Harris has scored five goals and
Lexi Tucker has four goals and a team-high four assists.
The Griffins rank 27th in the NAIA with seven shutouts on the year and 32nd by posting a shutout every 0.41 games played. They are allowing just 0.82 goals per game and limiting the opposition to 6.4 shot per contest.
Abi Yanke ranks 11th in the NAIA with a 0.67 goals-against-average. She has a save percentage of .800 and five shutouts.
Should Westminster defeat Presentation, they would face second-seeded Carroll (Mont.) in a semi-final game on Friday at 11 a.m. MST. The championship game will be played on Saturday at 11 a.m. MST.
