Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – The 21st-ranked Westminster College women's soccer team continued its hot start to the season with a 1-0 win over Hope International on Sunday afternoon at Dumke Field.
Westminster is now 7-1 on the year and remains perfect at home in six outings. The loss drops Hope International to 5-2-1 on the season.
The first half was played scoreless with the two teams combining to attempt nine shots. The Griffins would turn up the pressure in the second half and would tally the game's only goal in the 63rd minute.
Justine Jones carried the ball down the right side and sent a cross into the box where
Margo Hickman got her foot on it and directed it into the goal.
The goal was the fourth of the season for Hickman and her first game-winner. Jones picked up her third assist of the year on the play. The Griffins posted an 8-1 edge in shots during the second half and had a 15-5 advantage on the afternoon with five shots being on frame.
Hickman led the attack with five shots and three on goal while Jones had three shots.
Bettina Oesch recorded two shots coming off the bench.
Jamie Wilkinson made one save in recording her second shutout of the year and earning her fourth win.
The Griffins will now begin a stretch of three consecutive road games that starts on Friday at Northwest (Wash.).
