Hilliam Sets Scoring Record in 2-0 Win over Soka

Box Score ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Westminster College women's soccer team defeated Soka University 2-0 on Sunday to complete the regular season.  In the game, senior Heather Hillam became the career scoring leader at Westminster.

Corie Walch would score the first Griffin goal in the 54th minute.  It would be the fifth goal of the season for Walch and her third game-winner.  Justine Jones recorded her fourth assists of the year in the play.

History was made in the 71st minute as Hilliam scored sixth goal of the year to make it 2-0 for Westminster.  The goal was the 20th career goal for Hillam and it moved her into sole possession of first-place in career goals at Westminster.  It also gave her a school-record 45 career points.

Westminster used 27 shots and 16 shots on goal to finish the regular season with an 11-6-1 overall record.  The 11 wins match the school record set last season.  They held Soka (6-9-1) to just seven shots.  Dayna Winter-Nolte collected her third straight shutout with four saves.

The Griffins will now wait for the bracket to be released for the Frontier/Cal Pac Conference Tournament.  Westminster should qualify for the four-team tournament that will be played at Dumke Field on Nov. 11-12.
