SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's lacrosse team defeated Metro State 16-8 on Friday afternoon on Dumke Field. The win is the second straight for the Griffins and improves them to 7-3 on the season.
The Griffins got first quarter goals from
Andrew Gordon,
Jacob Wayman, and
Josh Condas to lead 3-0 after the first 15 minutes. The opening run would eventually reach five midway through the second quarter and was 9-3 at the half. Westminster continued to attack into the foruth, eventually opening up a 12-5 advantage.
Jacob Wayman finished with five points behind three goals and two assists. He recorded seven shots and picked up one ground ball.
Andy Lehr added four goals on six shots while
Hayden Dixon had one goal and two assists.
Dallas McLellan had seven saves and five ground balls during his time between the pipes.
Westminster returns to action on Saturday, April 3 when they host Gonzaga on Dumke Field. They will recognize the senior class in a short ceremony prior to the 1 p.m. opening faceoff.
