Women’s Soccer Defeats Embry-Riddle, 2-1

Box Score PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The Westminster women's soccer team picked up its second road win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Friday afternoon. The Griffins used the first career goal from Sadie Young in the 71st minute to secure the win. They are now 8-5-1 on the season and have won seven of their last eight games.

Corie Walch put Westminster ahead with her first goal of the season in the game's 18th minute. It stayed 1-0 until the 39th minute when Blair Boise scored the equalizer for Embry-Riddle on a pass from Kiley Frazier. Young would tally the game winner in the 71st minute.

Westminster was outshot in the game 18-10 by the host Eagles, but the Griffins put five of those shots on goal and two in the net. Embry-Riddle managed nine shots on frame and held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks. Lindsay Bekken posted eight saves between the pipes for Westminster in victory.

Westminster will look to sweep the two-game road trip when they face Southwestern (Ariz.) College on Saturday at noon.
