Box Score SALT LAKE CITY - Maddie Spere provided all the offense in a 2-1 win for the Westminster Griffins over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Sunday afternoon. Westminster outshot the Eagles 11-3 in recorded a fourth straight win, improving to 5-3-0 on the season. Embry-Riddle falls to 5-3-1 with the loss.
Spere struck first in the 13th minute when she took a Maddie Maldonado through ball and buried past the Eagles' keeper for a 1-0 lead. Embry-Riddle evened the game on a Julie Falsken goal in the 22nd minute. In the 65th minute, Spere took a Jen Pirente one-touch pass and slid it under the keeper for the game winner.
Westminster will now begin a four game road swing starting Friday, September 19, when they face Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, California.
