SALT LAKE CITY - It took 110 minutes and nothing could be decided between Westminster and Whitman in men's soccer on Friday evening. Whitman took a 1-0 lead on a Todd Wallenius goal in the game's fifth minute. The Griffins got the equalizer from Jeff Gardner in the 19th minute, but that was all the scoring for the night.
Westminster outshot Whitman 23-7 but only got seven of those 23 shots on frame. Val Campbell needed only one save to preserve the tie. Daniel Duke and Gardner each had four shots for the Griffins to lead the team.
The Griffins return to action on Saturday, August 30 when they face Metro State. That game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff at Dumke Field.
