Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Zac LeVin

Manwaring Shines, But Griffins Fall 0-1 To Midwestern St.

Grand Junction, CO - The Westminster men's soccer team fell in a tightly contested 1-0 matchup on Sunday, September 7, in Grand Junction, Colorado, falling just short against a national title-contending Midwestern State side. Despite the scoreline, Westminster's backbone remained its defense, led by goalkeeper Thomas Manwaring, who shone with a string of sharp saves and consistently kept the Griffins within reach. Unfortunately, Westminster struggled to muster any truly dangerous offensive moments and were unable to pose any meaningful threats against a strong, disciplined Midwestern State squad. This marked the second game of the Griffins' six-game road swing; they now shift their focus to Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) in Idaho on Thursday, September 11.

NNU arrives off an electrifying 5–4 comeback win over Colorado Christian on Saturday, September 6, raising their record to 1–0–1. Trailing 4–1 in the second half, NNU rallied relentlessly—scoring four unanswered goals to snatch the win in dramatic fashionNorthwest Nazarene University Athletics. With their high-scoring resilience still in tow, the Griffins are gearing up for a far tougher test in Thursday's showdown.
