The Westminster men's soccer team entered their second match of the weekend looking to rebound against Western Oregon after falling 4–2 to Northwest Nazarene on Thursday night.
In what proved to be a physical contest featuring five yellow cards, Westminster controlled much of the first half but couldn't find the net, sending the match into halftime scoreless. The Griffins held a 4–3 edge in shots, with Chase Kluksdal firing twice and Zac LeVin and Broc Underhill each testing the keeper. Defensively, Oliver Olsen kept the scoresheet clean with two saves as Westminster led 2–1 in that category.
Early in the second half, Western Oregon broke through when Abraham Villalobos, assisted by Alex Grignon, scored the lone goal of the game to give the Wolves a 1–0 lead. Despite Westminster's continued pressure, the Griffins couldn't find the equalizer. They outshot the Wolves 11–9 overall, with LeVin leading all players with four attempts, three of them on target. Both sides finished with three corner kicks.
The Griffins will look to bounce back this week with matches against Seattle Pacific University and Western Washington University.
