A powerful athlete from a Salt Lake Valley athletic powerhouse, freshman Sydney Davis does it all for the Griffins, just as she did for the Alta High School Hawks. Sydney was a dual-threat for the Hawks on any type of hardwood, basketball on the flat variety, and track on the banked. In addition to back-to-back Regional Championships on the court, Sydney garnered Track Athlete of the Year every season of her Alta career, and was an Academic All-Region and Honor Roll recipient maintaining a 3.9 GPA. While the 5’3” sprinter will concentrate on the banked boards for the Griffins, Sydney’s schedule will continue to be full as she exemplifies a track and field athlete as a sprinter on the former, and javelin thrower and shot-putter in the latter. Slowing down a bit in her down-time but still working hard, Sydney enjoys swimming, hiking, and collecting rocks, (no doubt heavy ones). Interestingly, a favorite pursuit is diametrically opposed to the more explosive sports she participates in, the more calculating and Zen-like sport of trapshooting, still explosive, but in a different way. On the sideline cheering on the Pre-Dental or Nursing major are brother Joshua and parents Nicole and Christian.
