Westminster golf begins its season this Monday and Tuesday at the Utah Valley Wolverine Invitational, a two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted at TalonsCove Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
Denise Larson, appointed Westminster University's Director of Golf and Head Women's Golf Coach in 2023, brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the Griffins. She launched Utah Valley University's women's golf program in 2005, making it competitive within two seasons at the Division I level, and previously led St. Francis High School (CA) to a 2002 state championship and two section titles, earning Greater Sacramento Girls Golf Coach of the Year in 2003. A former standout at Sacramento State, Larson was a two-time Big Sky All-Conference honoree, Academic All-Conference all four years, and team captain before beginning her coaching career.Â
The 2025–26 Westminster women's golf roster features nine student-athletes, with a strong core of sophomores. The team includes Reimi Bleyl, Madalyn Hadley, Kindra Hirasuna (Redshirt Sophomore), Ashley Lam, Camilla Shin, and Isabel Wade, along with junior Jailee Snow. Freshmen Campbell Kato and Remi Rawlings add new talent to round out the Griffins' lineup.
Ashley Lam enters her sophomore season as one of the RMAC's top returning golfers after a remarkable freshman year. She was named both RMAC Freshman of the Year and Golfer of the Year, highlighted by capturing the individual title at the 2024–25 RMAC Women's Golf Championship with an impressive eight-under-par performance. Lam's success continued into the postseason, where she qualified for the NCAA West Regional and placed 22nd out of 111 competitors. Following her breakout year, she has been selected to the 2025 RMAC Preseason All-Conference Team.
The Westminster women's golf team has a competitive fall slate ahead, beginning with the Wolverine Classic (Sept. 8–9) in Saratoga Springs, Utah. This weekend, the top five qualifiers from both the men's and women's teams will travel to Sheridan, Wyoming, for the Travis Roy Memorial, the main event on the schedule. Those not qualifying will compete locally as individuals. Four Griffins from the women's side will play in the Utah Shootout (formerly the Kelsey Chugg Invitational), held Sunday–Monday (Sept. 14–15) at Wolf Creek Golf Club in Eden, Utah, while three men will take part in the Soldier Hollow Individual, hosted by the University of Utah on Monday–Tuesday (Sept. 15–16) at Soldier Hollow's Gold Course in Midway, Utah.
The Griffins will then host their own Westminster Wasatch Invitational (Sept. 21–22) at Glenmoor Golf Club in South Jordan before heading into October for two marquee events: the NCAA West Region Preview (Oct. 13–14) in Pueblo, Colorado, and the East Bay Fall Invitational (Oct. 27–28) in Hayward, California.
