Ashley Lam Sets Program Records to Launch Sophomore Season

Following a historic freshman campaign in 2024–25, where she swept RMAC Freshman of the Year and Golfer of the Year honors before being named to the 2025 RMAC Preseason All-Conference Team—Ashley Lam opened the new season in record-setting fashion.

She claimed the individual title at the Wolverine Invitational against an all-Division I field, setting a school record with a low round of 66 and establishing another program record with a three-day total of nine-under par.

Lam had this to say about the strong start, "Freshman year was definitely full of accomplishments, and to kick off my sophomore season with a Division I tournament win feels unreal. It's a huge confidence booster and makes me excited for what's to come. Knowing I have such strong support behind me makes the win feel even more special."

Lam will look to continue building on her recent success and work towards her future goals, "Last year, I felt good about my overall game, but my putting wasn't where I wanted it to be. This season my putting has improved a lot, and I've become more consistent overall. Personally, I'm aiming to win a few more tournaments and lower my scoring average. As for the team, I'm not putting any specific goals on us, but I really believe in our potential. If we stay focused and work together, I know we can accomplish some big things this year."

The Westminster Griffins are a young team eager to prove themselves this year and at moments have shown bright flashes of what they're capable of.

Coach Larson said this about the team, "We are starting this season right where we left off: an individual win and sub-300 team score. The team is young, but they are tournament-ready! Our Round 3 score especially shows the type of play we are capable of.  All 9 players have the potential to be in our top 5. I expect big things out of this group and plan on them contending every time we tee it up."

As a team, Westminster recorded a team score of +40 and finished the Wolverine invitational in ninth place, defeating D1 Idaho State.

The Griffins had several strong performances on the individual leaderboard. Lily Shin led the way with a +14 to place 44th, Kindra Hirasuna carded a +17 to finish 49th, followed closely by Remi Rawlings at +19 in 52nd, while Reimi Bleyl finished at +25 in 62nd. Competing as individuals, Jailee Snow shot +23 to tie for 59th, Madalyn Hadley posted +32 for 65th, Bella Wade came in at +23 to tie for 59th, and Campbell Kato rounded out the group at +38 in 66th.
