Salt Lake City, UT – The Westminster University Volleyball program is excited to announce the addition of Zanea Spencer as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2025 season.
Head Coach Sue Dulaney shared her enthusiasm for the new hire, stating,
"We are eager to get started this fall as we bring in 11 freshmen in addition to a new assistant coach, Zanea Spencer. She caught my eye while working at an outside camp a few years ago. She brings energy, a great work ethic, and is hungry to grow her game. She will be responsible for recruiting, scouting, and on-court training."
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Spencer joins the Griffins after two successful seasons as the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Western Wyoming Community College, where she helped guide the Mustangs to a 24-15 record in 2023 and a 22-9 record in 2024, marking consecutive Region 9 Tournament appearances—the program's first since 2019.
Spencer earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Illinois Springfield in May 2023, where she played collegiate volleyball from 2019 to 2022. Her senior season in 2022 was her most productive, tallying 239 kills and averaging 2.78 kills per set. In 2021, she ranked ninth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for blocks with an average of 1.02 blocks per set.
Spencer's coaching philosophy centers on personal growth and development. She values the process over outcomes and is dedicated to helping young athletes succeed on and off the court. Her passion for player development and her leadership experience will be a vital addition to the Westminster Volleyball program.
