Westminster Women's Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award for Third Consecutive Year
Salt Lake City, Utah – The Westminster University women's volleyball program has once again distinguished itself in the classroom, earning the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT. The honor marks the third consecutive year the Griffins have received the award, underscoring the program's sustained commitment to excellence beyond the court.
In addition, Westminster earned a spot on the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, a distinction reserved for the top 20 percent of team grade-point averages nationally in NCAA Division II. This places the Griffins among the elite academic programs in the country, further highlighting the program's ability to balance the rigors of athletic competition with consistent academic achievement.
The recognition reflects one of Westminster's central values: ensuring that student-athletes succeed at the highest level both athletically and academically. For the Griffins, maintaining this standard for three straight years is a testament to the dedication of the student-athletes, the support of the coaching staff, and the broader commitment of the university community.
Since its establishment in 1992, the AVCA Team Academic Award has celebrated volleyball programs across all levels that maintain a year-long team GPA of 3.30 or higher. Earning the award in consecutive years, and achieving Honor Roll status in 2025, demonstrates the consistency of Westminster's approach and the culture of discipline, focus, and pride that defines the team.
As the Griffins prepare for the 2025 season, they do so with momentum both on and off the court. Their accomplishments in the classroom continue to elevate the Westminster name nationally and serve as a source of pride for the university, its alumni, and the greater Salt Lake City community.
