Zanea Spencer, a native of Chicago, Illinois, will begin her first season as an Assistant Coach for the Westminster volleyball program in the Fall of 2025.
Prior to joining the Griffins, Spencer spent two seasons as the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Western Wyoming Community College. During her time with the Mustangs, the team posted a 24-15 record in 2023 and a 22-9 record in 2024, making consecutive appearances in the Region 9 Tournament for the first time since 2019.
Before beginning her coaching career, Spencer earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Illinois Springfield in May 2023. She was a member of the UIS volleyball team from 2019 to 2022. Spencer had her most successful season in 2022, recording 239 kills and averaging 2.78 kills per set. In the spring of2021, she also ranked ninth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for blocks, averaging 1.02 blocks per set.
Spencer's coaching philosophy centers on valuing the process over outcomes. Drawing from her own experience as a student-athlete, she is passionate about helping young female volleyball players understand that success isn't solely defined by wins and losses. Instead, she emphasizes personal growth, effort, and development-believing that true success comes from committing to the journey both on and off the court.
Spencer is excited to bring her passion for volleyball and player development to the Westminster community, where she looks forward to helping athletes reach their full pot-both on and off the court.
