Salt Lake City, UT - The Westminster Griffins Men's Lacrosse team has made an impressive start to their 2024 season, with the home crowd's excitement with two consecutive wins at Dumke Field. The team secured victories over #14 ranked Maryville University with a score of 12-7 and Dominican University of California with a commanding 19-7 triumph.
Following their impressive performances, the Griffins have soared in the rankings, earning recognition in both the USILA coaches' poll at #20 and the US Lacrosse poll #19 . For the first time since joining Division Two and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), they have cracked the top 25.
In the RMAC, the Griffins swept the MLAX Player of the Week awards, with Merritt McMahon clinching his second Offensive Player of the Week honor in consecutive weeks, and Christian Jones earning the Defensive Player of the Week title for his stellar performance in safeguarding the net throughout the weekend in Utah.
With their sights set on maintaining their momentum, the Griffins are now preparing for a RMAC showdown against Colorado Mesa. They will travel to Grand Junction, CO on Sunday afternoon.
