COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After the first 15 minutes of action on the road it was the Griffins and Mountain Lion even at 1 goal a piece, but a strong second quarter of play by
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs which saw five shots hit the back of the net to Westminster lone goal helped the Mountain Lions capture their conference victory 17-7.
Lauren Shoughro had the lone goal in the first quarter and her second goal in the third as Celia Fidanaza scored two goals for the Griffins as well as each player led the team with a two game goal.
In the third quarter the Griffins were outscored 6-4 in that 15 minute frame to keep the home team on their toes, but another strong final quarter by UCCS who added five goals to the Griffins one closed the game out.
Gabriella Cheminant stood tall in the cage and had five key saves in the game for the Griffins goaltender and the Griffins had more draw controls (16-12) in the loss.
