THORNTON, Colo.—The Westminster men's golf team finished tied for fourth, with Fort Lewis College, at the Mile High Shootout, hosted by Colorado Christian at the Todd Creek Golf Club.
Tim Amundson of Colorado School of Mines took the individual honors with a three round score of 210 (-6), and led the Orediggers to a team win with a score of 863 (-1). Colorado Mesa finished second turning in a score of 880 (+16) and hosts CCU finished third with a score of 891 (+27). Westminster and Fort Lewis reported a score of 896 (+32) for a share of fourth place.
Masen Ward was one stroke shy of finishing in the top three. Ward finished 1-under, 215, tied fourth with Bradley Vu of Colorado School of Mines. Ward was third in par 4 scoring (4.03), par 5 scoring (4.25) and second in birdies made (13).
Bryson Hirabayashi and
Alec Williams made their Westminster debuts finishing second and third on the team respectively. Hirabayashi finished tied for 11
th reporting a three-round score of 222 (+6) and Williams turned in a score of 230 (+14).
Isaac Headrick finished with a score of 232 (+16) and
Max Lunt finished with a score of 234 (+18).
The Griffins have plenty of time to work on their game until their next tournament, the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational, hosted by CSU-Pueblo at Walking Stick Golf Course, October 5-16.
