PEUBLO, Colo.—Griffins finish in a three-way tie for fifth at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational. CSU-Pueblo hosted the tournament at the Walking Stick Golf Course.
The Griffins were at their best in the opening round with three golfers,
Bryson Hirabayashi,
Max Lunt and
Alec Williams, in the top 10 and carding a score of 280 (-8) to lead the field. They dropped into a tie for fifth after posting a second-round score of 292 (+4) and finished the third round scoring 287 (-1) to end in a tie with fellow RMAC schools Colorado Mesa and Colorado Christian at 5-under, 859.
Zach Dallimore finished as the Griffins top golfer through 36 rounds. He improved each round to finish tied 10
th. Dallimore carded 74 in the first round, 70 in the second and 68 in the third to finish 7-under, 209.
Masen Ward (72, 77, 69),
Max Lunt (70, 77, 71) and
Bryson Hirabayashi (69, 70, 79) finished tied 32
nd carding 2-over, 218.
Alec Williams posted a final score of 222 finishing tied 44
th.
Zach Dallimore improved each round and went from tied 50
th after the first 18 holes,finish tied 10
th as Westminster's top golfer. Dallimore carded 74 in the first round, 70 in the second and 68 in the third to finish 7-under, 209.
The hosts carded 28-under, 836, to finish first, three strokes ahead of Texas A&M International and 11 strokes ahead of Hutchinson Community College and Colorado School of Mines tied third. Jamie Roberts of CSU-Pueblo took individual honors carding 68 each round to finish 12-under, 204.
