Griffins Score Three To Defeat Cougars

Colorado Springs, Colo.—Westminster men's soccer improved to 3-0 in conference with a road win over University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Bridger Hansen, Brody Nelson and Danny Darelli each scored in the 3-0 win.

"We had players step up in big moments tonight," Head Coach Josh Pittman said. "It was an important game for us to come away with the three points heading into a tough matchup at Regis."

Hansen's game winning header in the 17th minute was the first big moment for the Griffins. Erik Hulbert played a one-time ball in to Hansen who had made a run into the box after a defensive stop.

The next moment came early in the second half. Goalkeeper Will Desantis made two saves in the opening five minutes then made a shutout earning penalty save in the 55th minute to keep the score 1-0.

The Griffins were able to breathe a little easier after Nelson scored from Kaden Amano's pass to make it 2-0 in the 62nd minute.

The Griffins were awarded a penalty kick in the 89th minute after having faced a barrage of shots in the final 15 minutes. Darelli scored from the spot to kill the game at 3-0.

The Griffins play at Regis on Sunday at 1 pm.
