Colorado Springs, Colo.—Westminster men's soccer improved to 3-0 in conference with a road win over University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
Bridger Hansen,
Brody Nelson and
Danny Darelli each scored in the 3-0 win.
"We had players step up in big moments tonight," Head Coach
Josh Pittman said. "It was an important game for us to come away with the three points heading into a tough matchup at Regis."
Hansen's game winning header in the 17
th minute was the first big moment for the Griffins.
Erik Hulbert played a one-time ball in to Hansen who had made a run into the box after a defensive stop.
The next moment came early in the second half. Goalkeeper
Will Desantis made two saves in the opening five minutes then made a shutout earning penalty save in the 55
th minute to keep the score 1-0.
The Griffins were able to breathe a little easier after Nelson scored from
Kaden Amano's pass to make it 2-0 in the 62
nd minute.
The Griffins were awarded a penalty kick in the 89
th minute after having faced a barrage of shots in the final 15 minutes. Darelli scored from the spot to kill the game at 3-0.
The Griffins play at Regis on Sunday at 1 pm.
