RAPID CITY, S.D.—The Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships got underway today with men's decathlon and women's heptathlon.
Westminster had three competing in the heptathlon—junior
Kylie Harrison, sophomore
Grace Cobabe and sophomore
Katie Valdez.
The first event of the day was the 100 hurdles, followed by the high jump, shot put and concluding with the 200 meters.
Cobabe was in fourth overall (1384) after a strong start through the first two events. She finished fifth in the hurdles with a personal best time (15.18) and jumped 1.45 m in the high jump. She finished 13th in the shot put and set a personal best (28.31) to finish 11th in the 200 meters (28.31), finishing the day ninth (2357)
Harrison was consistent and steady, and finished the day in 11th overall (2104). She finished seventh in the shot put (9.92m) for her best mark of the day.
An elbow injury kept Valdez from competing in any of the throwing events. She ran in the hurdles to be eligible for the team's relays the rest of the weekend.
