HENDERSON, Nev. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team fought through strong winds and a feisty San Diego State squad to take an 11-6 win at Adventura Park on Sunday afternoon in an exhibition game.
Â
With winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour during the first quarter, Westminster found itself trailing 3-2 after 15 minutes. The offense came alive in the second quarter as they outscored the Aztecs 7-0 to led 9-3 at intermission. The Griffins would then ride that advantage in the second half to earn the victory.
Â
"We bounced back pretty well after a sluggish start," Westminster head coach
Mason Goodhand said after the game. "The offense got rolling after a sloppy first quarter and then a scrappy SDSU squad ran out of gas."

Westminster got four goals apiece from
Josh Holland and
Cole Flinders.
Thomas Sarjeant added one goal and four assists to tie Holland – who also had one assist – for the team lead with five points. The Griffins also got goals from
