LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Westminster women's soccer team earned a point in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings with a 1-1 draw at Colorado Christian on Sunday afternoon.
Westminster (6-2-3, 3-1-3) fell behind early in the second half as Mariah Fredericks collected a rebound in the box following a corner kick to notch her third goal of the season in the 50th minute for Colorado Christian (5-6-1, 2-4-1).
That lead lasted into the 65th minute when
Madison Roemer scored her eighth goal of the season. Roemer, the RMAC's leading goal scorer, took a shot from the top of the penalty area and sent the ball inside the left post for the equalizer.
Neither team would find a winner in the following 25 minute or through two 10-minute overtime periods. The Griffins had four shots on goal in the extra 20 minutes, but couldn't put one away to earn the win.
Westminster took 18 shots on the day with 10 of those on goal. They fired seven of those shots in the overtime periods. CCU attempted just six shots – three on goal – with three of their total coming after the end of regulation.
