2014 Schedule

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's soccer team will play 18 matches during the 2014 season as head coach Chris Dorich announced the schedule this afternoon. The Griffins will play nine of those matches at Dumke Field, including the first six of the year.

The slate of games features five teams that qualified for the 2013 NAIA National Championships, including three in three days during a September road trip. They will face teams from eight different NAIA conferences and another from the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association.

Westminster begins the new season on Aug. 21 when they host Carroll (Mont.) in their first-ever game. The Griffins have a busy opening weekend as they also host Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Aug. 22, The Master's (Calif.) on Aug. 23 and Bethesda on Aug. 24.

They remain at home the following weekend for the annual Westminster Labor Day Classic. The Griffins face Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Aug. 29 before a Sept. 1 game with College of Idaho.

The following weekend the Griffins travel to Santa Clarita, Calif. to play two games at The Master's Tournament. Westminster begins the event against Westmont (Calif.) on Sept. 5 before facing the host Mustangs on Sept. 6.

The Griffins will then hit the road for three games in three days against teams that played in the National Championships last season. First is a Sept. 12 game at Midland (Neb.) on Sept. 12 in Fremont, Neb. That is followed with a game in Des Moines, Iowa on Sept. 13 against Grand View (Iowa). Westminster closes the trip in Bellevue, Neb. on Sept. 14 to play Bellevue.

Consecutive home matches with McPherson (Kan.) and Great Falls (Mont.) take place on Sept. 19 and 20 respectively. Three Frontier Conference road games follow with trip to Carroll on Oct. 11, Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Oct. 24 and Great Falls on Oct. 26.

The regular season comes to a close on Nov. 2 when Rocky Mountain visits Dumke Field on Senior Day.

The Frontier Conference and the North Star Athletic Association will compete in a postseason tournament for an automatic invite to the NAIA National Championships in Delray Beach, Fla.
