Salt Lake City, Utah – Westminster University Men's Soccer is proud to announce the signing of Jace Obenchain from Boise, Idaho. Obenchain, a defender, will join the Griffins ahead of the upcoming season after a decorated high school and club career.
Obenchain captained his high school team to its first state trophy in six years and helped lead the program to its first regular season championship in over a decade. During his senior season, he was named the 6A All-Conference Player of the Year, recording 26 combined goals and assists while anchoring the defense.
On the regional stage, Obenchain played a key role in making history for Idaho soccer. His team became the first Idaho boys team to reach the Far West Regional Final since 2011 and the first Idaho team to win the regional tournament.
Individually, Obenchain earned several honors including Idaho Press Men's Soccer Athlete of the Year, Mountain View Athlete of the Month, and three-time High School Player of the Week.
"We're excited to welcome Jace to Westminster," said Head Coach Pittman. "He's a strong, intelligent defender who brings leadership and a winning mentality to our program. Jace has proven he can perform at a high level, and we believe he has the tools to make an impact on our back line and continue developing into an excellent college defender."
