Complete Release | PDFSALT LAKE CITY – The No. 13 Westminster College men's lacrosse team closes out the home portion of the 2014 schedule on Saturday when they host Utah in a Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference contest. The game will begin at 4 p.m. MDT from Dumke Field.

GRIFFIN NOTESWestminster will return to action at 7-3 overall this season and winners of two-straight contests. They are coming off a 9-4 win over then-No. 14 Cal Poly at Dumke Field last Friday. The Griffins are 3-1 at home this season and 0-1 in RMLC games.
The Griffins are averaging 13.5 goals per game this season and they have scored in double figures eight times. They are attempting 40.3 shots per game and putting 58.6 percent of those shots on cage. Westminster has scored on 57.2 percent of their shots that are on cage and they assist on 48.1 percent of the goals scored. They have gone 13-of-33 (39.4%) on man-up chances.
At the defensive end, Westminster opponents average 7.40 goals per outing while they attempt 33.8 shots. Westminster has only allowed three opponents to score in double figures this season. The opposition puts 56.8 percent of their shots on goal and they score on 38.6 percent of those chances. The Griffins are winning 54.5 percent of face-offs with an 84.3 clearing percentage. They also have a 310-273 edge in ground balls.
CHECKING THE POLLSWestminster jumped up three spots to No. 13 in the latest edition of the MCLA Coaches' Poll that was released on Tuesday. The No. 13 ranking in the highest the team has been ranked this season and this is the fifth time in six polls the Griffins have improved in the poll from the previous week.
