Westminster Opens Holiday Trip with 84-45 Win at College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho – The No. 4 Westminster women's basketball team opened their Thanksgiving Weekend at the Lady Yote Classic with an impressive 84-45 win over the host, College of Idaho, on Friday night at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
 
After the first 14 minutes were played fairly even, Westminster (7-0) took the game over with a 21-0 run to close the first half and open the second half. It was 13 straight points in the final 7:20 of the half that turned a 28-27 lead into a 39-27 advantage at the break. A pair of Mika Pinner threes sparked the 10-0 run to open the second half that pushed the lead to 22 with 16:22 remaining.
 
The Griffins shot a season-high 61.1 percent from the field and made 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from beyond the arc. They out-rebounded College of Idaho, 38-18, and they held the Yotes (1-6) to just 35.3 percent shooting. The Griffins scored 28 points from 17 C of I turnovers and got 16 from 12 offensive rebounds.
 
Pinner led five Griffins in double figures with a career-high 16 points. She went 7-of-10 from the field and made two of her four attempts from three with five rebounds and two assists. Tia Pappas scored 15 points with four rebounds and six assists. Amanda Hacking recorded her second double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Alli Winters was 4-of-4 from three for 12 points and Amy Krommenhoek added 11 points and eight assists.
 
College of Idaho got 10 points from Elisha Hensey and six apiece from Aleah Lowber, Haylee Burnham and Jamiece Yizar.
 
Westminster will close the trip on Saturday with a 3 p.m. MT contest against Eastern Oregon University.
