GRIFFIN NOTEBOOK
Westminster comes home at 3-4 on the season after dropping a pair of games to ranked opponents in California last weekend. The Griffins are 3-2 at home this season including a win over then-No. 4 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) the last time they play at Dumke.

The Griffins have scored five goals on the season for an average of 0.71 goals per game. The offensive is struggling entering the weekend having not scored a goal in 189 minutes of action. They are averaging 10.9 shots per game and putting 46.1 percent of those shots on goal.

The opposition has totaled 10 goals and is averaging 1.43 per outing. Westminster is allowing 11.6 shots per game with 56.8 percent of those attempts on frame. Griffin opponents have recorded seven assists and they have scored five goals during the first half.

AGAINST THE OPPOSITION
Westminster is a perfect 3-0 all-time against Johnson & Wales. The two teams haven't played since 2005 when the Griffins won in Colorado, 8-1. The Wildcats only visit to Salt Lake City was an 8-0 win by the Griffins in 2004.

Great Falls comes to SLC holding a 9-2 lead in the all-time series with the Griffins. UGF has won eight straight meetings and they are 4-1 at Dumke Field. The Griffins last win in the series was a 2-1 decision at Dumke in 2009.

LOOKING BACK
Westminster began last week with a 3-0 loss at No. 23 Concordia (Calif.). The Griffins put four of their 11 total shots on goal, but couldn't get one in the back of the net. Anthony Alcox led the team with three shots and Logan Butzier took the loss with seven saves.

The road trip came to an end with a 3-0 loss at No. 12 Biola (Calif.) last Saturday. Biola had a 29-8 edge in shots taken with the Griffins only putting three shots on target. Sean Lyne made his first career start in goal and came up with 10 saves in defeat.

NEED TO STRIKE FIRST
Through Westminster's first seven games this season the teams that has scored the game's first goal has gone on to win the game. Only once this season has a game been tied after the first goal of the game was scored. That came in the Griffins 2-1 win over The Master's (Calif.) on Aug. 24. That game was also the only game this season that the losing team wasn't shutout.

ROLLING AT DUMKE
With three wins at home to start the year, Westminster continues its dominance of games played at Dumke Field. Since moving to the facility in 2005, the Griffins have compiled a 53-18-4 (.733) record on the turf. They have never had a losing record at the facility and over the past four years the Griffins are 23-8-1 (.734) at home.

SCORING FROM SMITH
Senior Ryan Smith has started the 2013 season right where he left off the 2012 campaign. Smith has scored three goals in the season's first seven games. The senior notched the game-winner against Jamestown and now has seven winners in his Westminster career.

HELP FROM DUENAS
Junior Manuel Duenas notched his second career goal in the team's 2-1 win over The Master's. For Duenas, it was his first career game-winner and came on his first shot of the season. He recorded his first assist of the year against MNU as his service from a free kick led to the game-winner from Petersen.

BUTZIER IN NET
Junior Logan Butzier has started in goal in five of the team's seven games this season. He has compiled a 3-2 record in those starts with two shutouts. Butzier has notched a 0.97 goals-against-average with 24 saves. He stops 82.8 percent of all shots on goal while allowing five goals in 463 minutes.
