WHITEFISH, Mont. – Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced the 2013 Men's Soccer Unaffiliated Group All-Star team today. The Westminster College men's soccer team placed
Manuel Duenas,
Omar Jaimes and
Ryan Smith on the team.
Duenas scored two goals and had two assists during the season. The 5-foot-2 junior from Woods Cross, Utah was the centerpiece of the Westminster midfield. He led the team in corner kicks while taking 15 shots and scoring one game-winning goal.
Jaimes finished the year with one goal and three assists for five points. A 6-foot senior from West Valley City, Utah, Jaimes took 16 shots during the year with eight of them on goal. He played and started all 20 games and also collected on game-winning goal.
Smith collected 14 goals and one assist for a total of 29 points in 2013. The 5-foot-10 senior scored eight goals in the team's final four games of the year, including a hat trick in the 6-1 win over Walla Walla in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. His four game-winning goals rank 28th in the NAIA and her is 31st in the country with those 14 goals.
All three of the Westminster players were named to the All-Frontier Conference team last week. This is the first time that any of the three have been recognized by the Unaffiliated Group.
