SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College men's soccer team continues a season-ending seven-game road swing with a pair of Frontier Conference games in Montana this weekend. Westminster visits Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. MDT. They then play at Great Falls (Mont.) on Sunday at noon MDT.

GRIFFIN NOTEBOOK
Westminster will head to Montana at 6-7 overall this season and sitting at 0-2 in Frontier Conference play. They are just 1-3 in road games this season with the only win coming in the last game. The Griffins are 1-2 on this current seven-game road swing to close the regular season.
The Griffins are averaging 1.08 goals per game while recording 10 assists on the 14 goals scored. They had scored multiple goals in a game only three times before notching two goals in both games they played last weekend. Westminster is taking 10.9 shots per game and they put 47.2 percent of those on goal. Nine of the team's 14 goals have been scored after halftime with 66.2 percent of their shots coming during that time.
On the defensive end, Westminster is giving up 1.46 goals per outing with the opposition recording 13 assists on 19 goals. The Griffins are allowing 11.2 shots per game with 53.4 percent of them on goal. The team has allowed 12 goals during the opening 45 minutes. Griffin goalies have combined for a .756 save percentage with four shutouts and 59 saves.
AGAINST THE OPPOSITION
Westminster leads the all-time series with Rocky Mountain 4-3-1 after dropping a 1-0 decision at Dumke Field last month. Rocky is 2-1-1 in games played in Billings and hasn't lost to the Griffins at home since 2009. The last three games in three games in the series have been decided by one goal or finished in a tie.
Great Falls holds a 10-2 edge in the series with the Griffins, including a 4-0 win last month at Dumke Field. Westminster is just 1-4 all-time in Great Falls and they haven't won a road game in the series since 2008. UGF has won nine straight overall and outscored the Griffins 20-4 in those games.
LOOKING BACK
After falling behind No. 5 Ashford (Iowa) 3-0 in the first 31 minutes, Westminster rallied to make it interesting late.
Anthony Alcox scored in the 83rd minute to make it 3-1. Then
Warren Cook put one away in the 84th minute to get the game to its final score of 3-2.
Trenton Petersen assisted on both Westminster goals.
The Griffins would then defeat Saint Ambrose (Iowa) 2-1 for their first road win of the season. After falling behind in the 10th minute,
Ryan Smith scored the equalizer just seconds before halftime on a pass from
Connor Thompson.
Omar Jaimes would then tally the game-winner on an assist from Smith in the 75th minute.
SCORING FROM SMITH
Senior
Ryan Smith continues to be the top scoring threat for the Griffins in 2013. Smith has scored five goals on the season while taking a team-best 40 shots. The senior tallied the equalizer at Saint Ambrose to snap a four-game scoring drought. Smith would then notch his first assist of the year on the game-winning goal later in the contest. He was named the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
ALL ABOUT ALCOX
Junior
Anthony Alcox has become a scoring threat over the past few games for the Griffins. After scoring the game-winner against Johnson & Wales (Colo.), Alcox scored the team's first goal in a 3-2 loss at fifth-ranked Ashford. He is tied for second on the team with two goals and four points. Alcox has attempted 24 shots with seven of them on goal this season.
HELP FROM DUENAS
Junior
Manuel Duenas notched his second career goal in the team's 2-1 win over The Master's. For Duenas, it was his first career game-winner and came on his first shot of the season. He recorded his first assist of the year against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) as his service from a free kick led to the game-winner. Duenas is tied for the team lead with two assists on the year while also attempting 10 shots.
DORICH CLIMBING THE CHARTS
In his 30th season as the head coach of the Westminster men's soccer team,
Chris Dorich is eighth among active NAIA coaches with 271 victories. Since Dorich launched the men's soccer program at Westminster in 1984, the team has posted 15 winning seasons and finished with double-digit wins on 11 occasions. The team had six straight seasons of 10-plus wins from 1990-1995 and set a school record with 15 wins during the 2001 campaign. Dorich has also guided Westminster to 18 postseason appearances and they made eight trips to the NAIA Region I Playoffs from 1994-2007.

GAME WITH DIXIE RESCHEDULED
The game with Dixie State that was postponed due to lighting on Sept. 7 has been rescheduled to take place on Nov. 3. It will begin at 4 p.m. from Hansen Stadium in St. George, Utah.
