Box Score 3 HENDERSON, Nev. – The sixth-ranked Westminster College men's lacrosse team got off to a fast start to the 2012 season by picking up three wins at the Full House Face Off over the weekend.
The season began with the Griffins taking a 15-9 win over No. 17 Sam Houston State.
Gian Sexsmith led the Griffins with five goals while
Jake Arthur,
Kevin Gee and
Kyle Postler each had two scored.
Chris Burckle made three saves in the cage.
The Griffins came back on Saturday to pick up a 17-8 win over No. 10 Western Oregon. Gee paced Westminster with four goals with Postler adding three goals and one assist. Sexsmith and
Collin Madsen had two goals and two assists apiece.
The weekend concluded with Westminster defeating UC Santa Cruz 25-4 on Sunday. The win improved the Griffins to 3-0 for the first time since 2007 when they started 5-0.
Westminster will be back in action on Feb. 28 when they travel to Moraga, Calif. for a game against Saint Mary's. They will then face Dominican two days later in San Rafael, Calif. to complete the road trip.
